These results of which have been added to the master excel file to provide the following information:
System Level Winning Faction Losing Faction
Oynope 1000 Algoryn Ghar
Caal 1500 Ghar Freeborn
Oynope 1000 Concord Algoryn
Goplapus Ghar Concord
Oynope 500 Algoryn Concord

Shodalia 500 Freeborn Concord
Flarvis 750 Ghar Concord
Rochuystea 500 Boromite Concord
Katurn 500 Ghar Concord
Specotania 1300 Ghar Concord

I have randomly allocated the Systems in which the battle took place.
These battle results now changes the number of systems controlled by a small amount:

Faction Gates Controlled Rank

Concord 14 2
Freeborn 10 4
Ghar 15 1
Isorian 14 2

All but the Ghar have lost control of systems.  Probably due to the massive number of games involving Ghar and the number of victories for them.
The poor Boromites have fared the worst, although winning and losing one, by not having enough games overall and influence being lost in systems where no battles were had, they slip down the rankings.  So come on people, grab your mass compactor and crush some battle suited Ghar!

Then as because these battles have been recorded, they are archived and a new Game Cycle starts.

Obviously, the key to not losing influence in a system is to have a battle in that system.  And that only happens if the battle reports include the name of the system in them, otherwise it is up to the excel formula "=randbetwen(1,54) to determine which system is allocated the battle.

This is a long slow campaign, not to be hosted on a blog, so once I have more skills in html etc I aim to be able to host a dedicated site to furthering the recording of everyone's Beyond The Gates Of Antares battles, should they wish to have them recorded.
It is rather time consuming to gather the battle reports, so any battle report links added to comment sections in the relevant page would be mostly appreciated, and there is also the list of System Gates being fought over.

The other, more dynamic part of the campaign involves the Aspiunov system gate.  Where the Ghar are protecting their information.  This would be updated monthly and be over a shorter period of time.  The "part 2" will include the next mission, attempted assassination of Fartock!  Where Ghar players with a painted Fartock figure (in Battle Suit) would get to use him for free (no points cost).
No Fartock?  Then the assassination attempt is on another high ranking Ghar, one with the highest "Leader" attribute.

So a back drop of long slow burn campaign matched with the excitement of dynamic episodic storylines.

Until the next game cycle!!

Current Episode - The Aspiunov Incursion - Part 1

Note:  Please record all Battle Report information relevant to this Episode in the comments of this post below.  Don't forget to include the factions taking part and the result (include more details and links too if possible).
Please only report results of battles that adhere to the current scenario

The Aspiunov Incursion - Part 1

This is a sample episode to illustrate the idea of Episodes.
Aspiunov is a System currently held by the Ghar.  The Ghar Empire have amassed a quantity of Battle Groups with the intent to launch a series of disruptive raids in the vicinity.  Although the worlds in the system are lost to the rest of humanity, ravaged by the current hosts, the goal is to deteriorate the Ghar ability to strike.

Some factions (notably the Algoryn) see this as an opportunity to gather more information about the size and dispositions of the Ghar forces.  If the Algoryn are either the most or second most successful faction in this Episode, they will gain DOUBLE influence that they would normally receive.  However, if they are the least successful, they will halve their current total influence.

Influence on offer for this Episode to be allocated to the Aspiunov Gate System:
Rank
Influence
1
10
2
6
3
2
4
0
5

6
-3

Scenario:
Outpost Strike
Play the Scenario on page 155 of the Rulebook.
Points Value for each side: 500 points.
Ghar will always be defending the outposts.
Battles that do not invole Ghar are valid, assign attackers and defenders as normal. The defenders have already cleared out the Ghar and the attackers want the information located there.

Variation to the Rulebook:
Outcast units (that is units with the Outcast Special Rule) do NOT count towards the MAXIMUM number of units permitted in the Force Selector.
Therefore a Ghar force could have 1 Battle Suit unit and a bunch of Outcast Units - not limited to just 2 other Tactical choices.

This world currently has nothing growing on it.  It is essentially a dead world.  There are lots of rubble, boulder fields, ruins and cratered ground.  Please use this style of terrain if possible.
The limitations of personal collections may prohibit this, so if unable to use the above then that is fine.

Part 2 of this episode will be available shortly.

Once the Episode is complete, it will be combined and moved to an Episode Archive page, along with the battle reports and links.
However, get your Fartock Batle Suit figures painted.  He will be making an appearance in Part 2 as a "free" unit for the Ghar (costs no points to include in the Ghar force, so long as you own the figure and it is painted).

The War Rages On... Post links to Battle Reports here

Listing of Recent Battles that have taken place.

Links to battle reports included.

Although there aren't that many battles to report at the moment as this is the concept site, this page will list all the battles in the current game cycle, before being retired to a Battle Archive Page.

You don't even have to stick to just one faction.  If like many you have multiple factions, so long as you record the battles here the relevant faction will get the resultant win/loss allocation.

If you would like to have your battles recorded in The Chronicles of Antares, please either link your battle report in the comments section (would be appreciated if a quick bit of info related to which factions fought and which faction won); or make a note of your battle in the comments section (add a name to the information to, it all helps) and I'll take care of the rest.

After some research, Google Forms can be used to capture much of this information without recourse to full Battle Reports:

By participating in Antares battles and recording the results elsewhere on this blog, the factions will slowly start to build influence on each Gate System.

For each individual system, the faction that has the most amount of net victories (that is wins minus losses) is ranked first, and that faction receives an influence gain of 5 in that Gate System.  Faction with second most amount of net victories receives an influence gain of 3 in that Gate System.  The faction with the least number of net victories suffers an influence loss of 3 in that Gate System.
If a faction records no battles in a system during the game cycle, that faction loses 5 influence in that Gate System.

Players can vote to receive boosts in up to five Gate Systems each game cycle. The amount of influence gained (or lost) is doubled.  The vote is taken once each game cycle and results of the vote take effect from the next game cycle for one game cycle.

The faction that controls the most System Gates (highest amount of influence in more systems than other factions) receives boost to influence each Game Cycle.

Successes in Episodes, short term mini-campaigns within a campaign reward factions with additional influence for the Gate System that the Episode takes place in.

The IMTel factions have been given a slight head start as befitting the most advanced of all the Antarean factions.
Some Gate Systems are currently "controlled" by two or more factions.  These contested systems count as controlled by all factions with the equally highest influence.

About the Chronicles of Antares

Here's the plan I had. In a nutshell. (A bit of a task to read, but will simplify over time):
The PRIMARY lingering campaign that provides the backdrop, revolves around the factions separately fighting for influence over 50 or so System Gates.
Players play games and at a minimum log the two factions in the battle and the winner. Further information can be supplied (such as which specific System Gate was being fought over) to full blown battle reports.
Equal points values and any scenario. Idea is to play games without restriction.
Each "game cycle", which I anticipate to be a month at the moment, the results for each battle alters the cumulative amount of influence each faction has on each system (it's all in excel so auto updates); this process means that a faction that has a lot of influence in one system does not risk losing it after a single game cycle.
Also prevents "win spamming" (by nefarious players just logging wins at an impossible rate) as you can win as many battles in a system as you want, the faction with the most wins that game cycle will only adjust the influence by 5 points (at the beginning the variance range of influence is only about 10 points, so the first few game cycles will be rather volatile regarding which factions control which systems).
This process of accruing influence over 50 or so System Gates continues onwards. The faction controlling the most systems gets a boost to their influence each game cycle. Social Media will be utilised for each faction to vote on which Gate System will receive additional influence boosts.
I know that Mr Sawyer has held various votes as to what funky figures to release in what order, so perhaps the more successful factions would get their figures nudged up the release schedule smile emoticon
Also, a faction who is faring badly would be able to make a comeback as they would devolve into a hard nugget of a handful of systems. From here the other factions would be rather thinly spread so a concerted effort among a selection of Systems would see them increase their System Gate control count.

The SECONDARY (and complimentary to the Primary) campaign would be episodic in nature over a certain length of time. Taking place within a specific Gate System, prescribed scenarios and points values, with points values being increased for successful factions (also increased Army Option choices.
Perhaps "free" characters - not costing any points in the army could also be a reward as the heroes get stuck in).
Some episodes would be for just two antagonists, with other factions helping one faction or another. Other episodes could involve a free-for-all.
Episodes could overlap where factions excluded from one episode would have their own episode. New scenarios (especially fan created ones) would be submitted along with running story lines.
The result of the episode would provide a significant influence boost to the winning faction as part of the primary campaign.
Also, if work is being undertaken for new rules etc, then success in episodes could lead the designers down that path too. So that's the main crux of my thoughts. Results would mainly result in campaign boosts, with on-table boosts a short lived opportunity in episodes. I
t would also serve as a living universe. And if things need to be fudged in the name of the story (and fun) then so be it. But mainly a universe created by the fans, for the fans.

The Chronicles begin.
By playing games of Antares with friends and recording the results online, you can drive a living perpetual campaign. For more information, check out the "About Chronicles" post.

Plan is to see how feasible it is to update the excel spreadsheet that drives the data, before the end of the Warlord summer Campaign.
Feedback is most welcomed in the comments.  I will try and read everything posted.

About Chronicles of Antares

This blog is created by fans of Antares for the wider community who also enjoy playing and collecting Beyond the Gates of Antares by Warlord Games.
Play games of Antares, record your battles either in own battle report and post link in the appropriate page; or just make comment in appropriate page and each game cycle watch the control of systems switch from one faction to another based on YOUR battles.
Minimal input for a persistent online campaign.

Also, every now and then Episodes will pop up.  These are short term story based battles that occur in a specific system. There are influence rewards on offer for factions that perform well in these episodes.
